Thirteen Songs I love by Elvis, In honor of his 72nd Birthday.
**** If he were still alive, January 8th would have been his birthday! Since I have a crazy love for him and all things him, I will share a list of my 13 favorite songs by him!
1. Can't Help Falling In Love... I cant help it Im a sap and he sang this song so beautifully.

3. Love Me Tender... I admit I melt to the words of this song!
4. All Shook Up... Its fun its silly. I love it.
5. Are You Lonesome Tonight?... Because it just makes me think of things in the past...
6. Hawaiian Wedding Song.... Probably my favorite song. Just beautiful.
7. Im So Lonesome I Could Cry... Cause who hasn't felt like that before!
8. It's Now or Never... No particular reason! I just love it.
9. Treat Me Nice... just a fun song if you ask me.
10. Teddy Bear... A fun song, and my God daughter loves it and always wanted me to play it so it makes me think of her.
11. Suspicious Minds... Cause it speaks such truth.
12. In the Garden... A beautiful Hymn that my mom sang alot when I was a child that has grown to be one of my favorites.

Thursday Thirteen Edition #1

Thirteen things I am truly thankful for.....

1. I have a great family! I just don't know what I would do with out my sisters, mom, step dad and brothers! They really are the best, even though I complain about at least one of them constantly.

2. I have the best boyfriend in the world, Adam is absolutely wonderful and puts up with everything that I can throw his direction.

3. I am healthy! Yes this is a big deal to me. Half of my family(paternal side) all have died slow painful deaths. This mainly was caused by the need for cigarettes, but there have been many other reasons. I am so thankful that all my tests for various things came back as HEALTHY!

4. I have two of the best friends in the whole world! Kristy Sue and Kevin Andrew. They have stood by my side through it all! I am so thankful to have them in my life.

5. I have a good job, even though right now I am not motivated at all, that keeps my bills paid and allows me to have the comforts I need.

6. I am finally back in school. Yes I'm on my 3rd semester, but it was a really hard thing to finally go back, which was in large part the workings of my lovely counterpart. That of coarse puts me back at my Adam (no. 2).

7. The good Lord has blessed me with many talents, even if I don't use them. I can sing, dance, write poetry (some of which I have had published) and speak well in a public setting. I count these things, used or not, as a great attribute to who I am and my character.

8. Elvis! Yep I said it! I use Elvis music to pull me out of a funk. I can turn on Elvis and be transformed, even if temporarily, into a very hopeful person. Yes I know that can be rather dorky but I do love him!

9. I have a home to call mine, even if it is not a house, yet. I am working on that one, Adam and I just haven't been able to agree on the right home yet. For the meantime though, I am thankful for this apartment that we share.

10. My two beautiful God-daughters, Katherine and Jaden. They always manage to make me smile. I do so miss them!

11. Adams Family! They are absolutely the best people that I could ever wish for in an extended family situation. They are always so kind to me, respectful and just plain fun to be around! I really do love his family, his sisters in particular!

12. My past, though it has been dark, cold and down right depressing at times, it is what has made me who I am today. I don't know that I would change any of it given the chance.

13. My family here in the blogging community! It really does help me to know that there are people out there, whom I may never meet, that will take the time to share their experience. I love the camaraderie that we have formed! I really look forward to reading your postings and comments! Thank you for reading mine too!!!

Elvis Presley

Any one that knows me knows that since I was a child I have had this love affair with Elvis Presley. One of my dreams is to one day get to see Graceland. I love the whole story of his life. Sad and tragic is it that he was driven to death. He gave and gave to any one that he could, but it was never enough. Some one always wanted more of him than he could give. He was kind, generous and genuine. Not often enough is there a person of such magnitude and fame that gives of themself so freely. Elvis once walked up to a lady standing infront of a car showroom and asked if she was going to buy it. She replied with "only in my dreams." He turned to the sales man and said "rap up the green cadillac its hers." He was always doing things like this. At Christmas every year he picked out 50 charities to donate very very generously to. This he kept up until the day he died. Now 50 years after the dawn of his reign in the music world, we still listen to him, watch his movies and sing with his music.
Then theres me, never alive during his life, but his music marked me as a young child. I grew up with the ultimate Beatles fanatic. Yet managed to sustain my own musical passion. I remember in the 1st or 2nd grade mom and dad got me this little marroon walkman. The first cassett tape they got me was Elvis. Yes I remember that fondly. I lived with that tape playing constantly. Elvis music has been a constant in my life. I remember times when friends or family have died, and there on the radio was a song of his. He may be dead and I was never around to see him live, but his legacy has placed a brand on my heart.
If you were to ask me what of his songs I love the best I would be hard pressed to pick. But I would tell you "The Hawaiian Wedding Song." This making complete sense to the fact that Blue Hawaii is my favorite movie of his and that is the movie ender.
Elvis was a man with great conviction and had many faults. He was called the King but he was infact just a person like all of us. He was held above most and still is just for a great talent that he was given by God. He loved gospel music. Truth be told if he had been given the chance he most likely would have done that above anything that he sang. If I could go back in time to any period, I would like to go to the time when he was begining his decent. I would ask him what drove him to such greatness, and how he could deal with so much stress and pressure from the outside world.

Yes call me whimsical, or even nostalgic. But these were the days when music really got its roots. He opened doors and had one of the most diverse crowd of fans. What other single performer can say they created a whole musical movement? Some credit the Beatles, I say they just helped. But even John Lennon said "with out Elvis we could not have been."
I know I have probably bored all with this. But I show many sides sometimes. This is one of my passions. Elvis and his legacy fascinate me. So thank you for reading this if you did, and for allowing me to express this passion.
